KROUSAR THMEY – CAMBODIA

Krousar Thmey, which means “New Family” in Khmer, is the first foundation created in Cambodia in 1991 which assists underprivileged and disabled children. It provides care to over 1000 children in 76 centers. Its objectives: integrate deaf or blind children through access to specialized education, support toward an active life
and the learning of the Khmer artistic traditions.

 

 



The project Traditional song and dance troops are trained to convey a message of prevention against child trafficking and child prostitution, or awareness about educating blind or deaf children. Our action In 2013, among the 25 supported students, 4 come from Krousar Thmey’s education program for blind or deaf children: 3 are deaf, and 1 is visually impaired. The other 20 students come from protection centers linked to the Krousar Thmey child protection program.For 2014, the association is directing its project around access to treatment against Hepatitis B for 4 Cambodian children who are deaf or blind. The project will allow them to receive a medical consultation every month for a year as well as medication daily.   Since 2011, our commitment has totaled 18,000 €.
