Cœur de Forêt is a French association created in 2005 that works to protect primary forests as well as support the peoples who live in them by developing good agroforestry practices. In Madagascar, the association is conducting a program to preserve Masoala Park and for economic development for 600 families of villagers who live near the Park. The villagers live exclusively from growing rice and exploiting the forest, and the lack of facilities forces the people to burn the forest to grow rice.
