CORAL GUARDIAN – INDONESIA

Indonesia is home to a third of the world’s coral reefs with at least 500 coral species. But the combined effects of destructive fishing and climate deregulations could eliminate this aquatic treasure by 2040.
Coral Guardian is an association created in 2010 that works for the protection of coral reefs and the empowerment of the Flores communities in Indonesia.

 



The project Its objectives: rehabilitate the marine environment in order to rebuild fish stocks and allow for the responsible use of marine resources. The Association is also committed to monitoring the Protected Marine Area off the coast of the Flores Island and the creation of income-generating activities for the local communities of Seraya Besar and Seraya Kecil. Our engagement We support the Protected Marine Area monitoring actions, as well as the training of coastal guards and environmental mediators.   Since 2017, our commitment has totaled 6,000 €.
