MENINGITIS EMERGENCY IN AFRICA

Several West African countries faced a major meningitis epidemic of an unusual magnitude in 2009. 65,000 people contracted the disease causing many deaths: Meningitis, which is incurable, causes the death of one patient out of two.

 



The project In Nigeria, Niger and Chad, in collaboration with the health authorities, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) treated tens of thousands of people, and conducted a vaccination campaign for 7.5 million people which helped to limit the transmission of the disease. Our engagement In 2009, our commitment totaled 10,000 €.
