“From Saying To Doing” : La Gamelle de Jaurès

Faustine Poidevin

Created in 2016, this association was founded by citizens who feel powerless in the face of the extreme precariousness of the migrants in Paris.

La gamelle de Jaurès distributes warm meals every Monday to homeless migrants living in the Porte de la Chapelle district, as well as warm clothes and hygiene kits.

Volunteers are working to find accommodation for the most vulnerable people, especially women with children and unaccompanied minors awaiting their appeal for the assessment of their minority before a juvenile judge. This waiting period can last up to 6 months. In partnership with the association “les midi du MIE”, the association has allowed about 250 people to be accommodated in 2018, the equivalent of 1250 hotel nights. The main beneficiaries are generally minors.

The Foundation has been supporting emergency accommodation since 2017.
