In 2008, BATIK International initiated with the support of the French Committee of International Solidarity and the Embassy of France in Vietnam, a vocational handicraft training program for women of the Ha Giang province in the north of Vietnam, one of the country’s poorest regions.
The project
The inhabitants of the region have know-how in the manufacture of traditional costumes, which are made from hemp that they cultivate. 30 women have been trained to highlight these skills and are supported in the establishment of a fair trading system for their products.
Our action
In 2011, we participated in the construction of shops in the Lung Tam and Can Ty villages.
In 2010, our support totaled 1,000 €.
