The Refettorio reinvents itself in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic

The Refettorio is a solidarity, sustainable and cultural project, a unique place where we relearn the good and the beautiful. It has been able to reinvent itself in a complicated context. Facing the Covid-19 pandemic, the Refettorio has stepped up its actions by mobilizing 70 restaurants and 300 volunteers, thus providing 175,000 packed lunches during the first lockdown.

Since September 2020, the place has been able to open without interruption in compliance with health standards, allowing 40 to 60 guests to eat there every evening.

Since January 2021, 4,100 meals have been served on site to a growing audience.

Refugees, families, students (in partnership with the COPAIN association), people isolated due to the pandemic, homeless people were also able to benefit from a meal worthy of a Michelin star restaurant, here using gastronomy as a vector of social bond.

In 2021, the Refettorio wants to allow even more people to benefit from the place by opening at 4 p.m. for a tea-time and cultural workshops and by inviting more guests once the sanitary protocols are lightened. Indeed, the place is very popular, with an average of 100% daily occupancy rate in March 2021. Since February 15, 198 students have been able to enjoy a meal in this unique setting, where art, design, gastronomy and social bonding come together.
